Titania has secured its first municipal land assignment in Nynäshamn Municipality and will act as anchor developer in the development of central and southern Ösmo. The southern and central parts of Ösmo will be densified to make room for approximately 700–1,400 new homes, shops, restaurants and other businesses. In the municipality’s land assignment competition, the Municipal Executive Board appointed Titania as the first company to develop the area.

About Hallängen
The municipality has a clear vision for how the area is to be developed and, during the land assignment process, asked the developers to present their interpretation of this vision.
In collaboration with Arkitema Architects, Titania has developed a concept for the new Ösmo as a garden/park city, with apartment buildings of 3–5 storeys along the main thoroughfares and urban townhouses between the new development and the existing single-storey villas.
Garden city with mixed buildings and green corridors
In the proposal, Nyblevägen becomes an urban street with many entrances facing the street, creating an intimate and safe streetscape. One of the key ideas is a park corridor running north–south, forming a green artery through the area.
“We look forward to working with the municipality on the design of the zoning plan for central Ösmo. The set-up, in which we assume the role of anchor developer and are responsible for coordination, suits our way of working. We have worked in the same way in other major projects, and we are motivated by being involved from the very beginning and helping to set the framework for new districts. We also look forward to involving existing residents and businesses in the process together with the municipality, in order to build a shared view of the area’s development. We are grateful to Nynäshamn Municipality for the trust they have placed in us,” says Titania CEO Einar Janson.
“We received six very strong proposals of high quality, so choosing between them was a difficult but pleasant task. Titania meets all of the criteria we set and clearly shows that they have understood the municipality’s vision for the area,” says Municipal Executive Board Chair Harry Bouveng.
“In a development project of this scale, there are many different factors to take into account, such as ground conditions, the need for schools, traffic solutions, ancient remains, the basis for services, and opportunities for recreation,” says Sandra Zachrisson, project manager at the Land and Development Unit of Nynäshamn Municipality.
She continues:
“One of the most important aspects is of course the residents’ wishes regarding how the area should be developed, but we also need to ensure that the project is technically and financially feasible. That is where Titania will act as a sounding board. We want to exchange ideas about the entire area, and for that reason they will not know exactly where in the area they will be able to build until the review stage.”
