The Municipal Executive Board of Lidingö City has approved a municipal land assignment with Titania Holding AB (publ) concerning a property of approximately 5,500 square meters GFA designated for healthcare operations, including an associated parking garage. The new building, Hälsans Hus, will be located in central Högsätra, and the land will be leased under a site leasehold agreement. Healthcare services currently housed in the existing Högsätra building, which is planned to be demolished in connection with the new construction, will be offered premises in Titania’s future property. The quality program that formed the basis for the land assignment competition places a strong emphasis on classical architecture and is one of the first of its kind in Sweden for this type of area.

Project description
About Hälsans hus
Högsätra is centrally located on Lidingö and features a residential area from the 1970s, a school, sports facilities, and the former Lidingö Hospital, now known as Högsätrahuset. The old hospital building is set to be demolished to make way for a new civic property—Hälsans Hus, which will accommodate the services currently housed in Högsätrahuset. Hälsans Hus will be certified according to the LEED environmental certification system.

Classic architecture
What makes the Högsätra project, of which Hälsans Hus is a central part, truly unique is that, for the first time in modern Swedish history, a building in classical architectural style is being constructed within an existing Million Programme area. Here, structures from the 1970s with low aesthetic value are being demolished to make way for something entirely new.
Hälsans Hus itself stands out not only for its design but also for its function: it will house regionally funded healthcare services. This marks the first time in over a century that a building with such a public function is being realized with classical composition in proportions, choice of materials, ornamentation, and construction techniques.

Högsätra today
Högsätra is centrally located on Lidingö and offers numerous destinations for residents and visitors alike. The area is largely characterized by development from the 1970s, with a significant number of residential buildings, facilities for healthcare services, and a wide range of sports and recreational activities. In Lidingö’s comprehensive plan, Högsätra is identified as a key area for future development—driven by the need to enhance safety, diversify housing options, and upgrade the outdoor environment.
